WHAT IS IT?

RF (radiofrequency) energy is a non-invasive thermal skincare treatment. The treatment enhances and tightens the skin by targeting the deep layers of the skin. It works by using RF and heat, to stimulate the formation of new collagen and improve the skin's overall elasticity.

The subdermal heating allows your skin’s collagen to be increased and remodeled into a more youthful functioning layer. As we age, collagen layers become thinner and compressed (think of an older mattress), thus creating wrinkles and lines. The RF energy in these treatments allows the collagen strands to remold into tighter lines, thus improving lines, wrinkles, and texture.

Treatments include tightening the jawline, reducing nasolabial folds, a raise and lift of the brow bone area, sculpted cheekbones, and more.

The treatment can be seen as a non-invasive alternative to injections or traditional plastic surgery methods like face-lifts. For a younger demographic, it's an effective preventative measure.

RF has no lights or laser components, so this treatment is proven safe and effective for all skin types.

HOW DO WE APPLY THE TREATMENTS

We use 2 platforms to do these treatments - Venus Diamond Polar and InModes’s Forma. Both are Canada Health approved for RF treatments. These platforms both deliver Multi-Polar Radio Frequency and Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields to produce uniform heat in the skin. Both are safe and comfortable.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

Long lasting results require repeated treatments over the same area. Most patients receive 6-8 treatments per area initially , with each session lasting around 30-60 minutes. Treatments are usually done once a week and require no downtime, so you can return to your daily activities immediately afterward.

You can just relax during the treatment feeling only a warm heat and movement of the treatment head. During your Forma treatment, your technician will take a heated wand and gently rub it across your skin. Like your typical ultrasound procedure, the technician will apply a gel to the face to help the wand glide around the skin smoothly.

While your technician is performing the procedure, they'll typically target the problem areas you'd like to address. Most people tend to focus on the jawline to help with sagging, forehead wrinkles, crows feet around the eyes, the nasolabial folds, and any other areas where you might find wrinkles or fine lines.

You'll notice after your treatment that the skin can turn red to the heat, however most people find that it subsides within a few hours. Since it's non-invasive, this is essentially a painless procedure with no downtime.
A maintenance program is suggested after the initial treatments are completed, to help maintain your long-term results.

CAN THIS BE USED IN COMBINATION WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?

Yes, Forma & Diamond Polar can be used in combination with most other laser treatments, facials, injectables and/or filler. Please speak to your aesthetic provider when considering combining RF facial contouring with other treatments.

WHAT IS FRACTORA FACIAL?

Many Forma or Diamond Polar patients will combine their RF Contouring with Fractional Resurfacing (Venus Viva or Fractora) or RF Microneedling (Fractora).
